Meeting Scheduled Monday For Input On Search For New Superintendent

WATER VALLEY – The Water Valley School Board of Trustees has hired the Excellence Group, LLC, to head a search for a new superintendent to lead the school district and one of the first steps will be a community meeting to help define the selection criteria. 

The public meeting is scheduled Monday at the Water Valley High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. and parents and members of the community are invited. Meetings are also scheduled earlier in the day with teachers, staff and administrators.

“We need to hear from the community and then we want to hear from you in detail,” explained Dr. Charles Harrison, founder of the Excellence Group, told school trustees at Monday night’s meeting. Trustees said the goal is to hire the new superintendent by the end of April. 

The search for a new superintendent comes after Superintendent Dr. Michael McInnis announced he will leave the district at the end of the school year to take a job as superintendent at the Harrisburg School District in Arkansas. 

McInnis has served as superintendent in Water Valley since 2015.
