Betty Lou Gibson Bovee

OXFORD—Ms. Betty Lou Gibson Bovee, 63, lost her battle with cancer and went to her Heavenly home, Friday, October 19, 2018, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.

Visitation was held Saturday, October 27, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford. A memorial service was held immediately following visitation, also in the funeral home. Interment was in Yellow Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tracy Gray officiated the service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.

Born January 1, 1955, in Greenwood, Ms. Bovee was the first baby born to James Mitchell and Elna Marie (Hall) Gibson. She lived in Water Valley for most of her teen years and, then in Oxford for the remainder of her life. She was previously employed at James Food Center, Franklin’s Grocery and Walmart.

Ms. Bovee was known to many as “Baby Lou”, and she enjoyed growing tomatoes, canning, and working puzzles, as well as watching birds and loving her puppy, Bruiser. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter and granddaughters.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Elizabeth (Lisa) Gibson Sanders, and Lisa’s father, both of Oxford; three granddaughters, Lakyn Marie Gibson, Caitlyn Skye Sanders, Ashlyn Grace Sanders, all of Oxford; one sister, Marilyn Gibson Little of Grenada; three brothers, Danny Mitchell Gibson of Oxford, Roy (Lynn) Gibson of Myrtle, and Charles (Debra) Warmack of Mooreville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Bovee was proceeded in death by an infant son; her parents, James and Elna Gibson; a brother, Roy Thomas Hall; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Hall.
