April 16-18

Spring revival services are scheduled at Chapel Hill M.B. Church Monday-Wednesday, April 16-18, beginning at 7 p.m. each night. The guest speaker will be Rev. Sidney Townes and special guests will be members of St. Andrews M.B. Church of Oakland. 

“Come and be blessed through the Word and Ministry. We look forward to your fellowship and solicit your prayers for this wonderful occasion,” stated Rev. C. Jerome Battle, pastor.

Friday, April 20

Everdale Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a pre-homecoming tea Friday, April 20, beginning at 6 p.m. Mrs. Trenisha Weekly will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served. A donation of $6 per ticket is requested. Everyone is invited to come out and fellowship in the  name of Jesus. 

Rev. Phillip Brackett is pastor of the church, which is located at 599 Wise Street in Water Valley (across from the football field).

Saturday, April 21

Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Coffeeville will present their third annual Women’s Conference, “Living,  Loving & Learning Generously” on Saturday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Everyone is also invited to attend the annual Women’s Day on Sunday. Scheduled speakers are Rev. Vada Hankins of Grenada at 11 a.m. and Evangelist Joyce Westbrook-Lee of Madison at  3 p.m.  Dinner will be served following the morning service. 

The deadline to pre-registration has passed but you can walk in on Saturday morning before 9:30 and register. The registration fee is $10. Giving advance notice will help know how much food to prepare. If you have questions call or text Suzette Shields  are at 407-765-2634 or call (662) 675-2227.


Into “HIS” Presence, a special time of praise and worship is scheduled at  Tillatoba Baptist Church April 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The church is located at 27052 Highway 330, Tillatoba. A time of praise and worship will be led by the praise team from Williamsville Baptist Church. Jeremy Tillman from the Williamsville Church will bring the word. Sunday, April 22

Pastor Larry J. Hervey and the men of Pleasant Grove Church enthusiastically invite everyone to attend a Men and Deacons’ Day on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Clarence Buchannan and the New Birth Baptist Church will be special guests, along with others. Lunch will be served prior to the worship service. 

“Join us,” invites Albert Covington and Guy Baddley, chairpersons.

Oakland’s Own, Erin Wiggins, Will Discuss Latest Books

 Friends of Oakland Public Library will feature a program by Oakland’s own, Erin Wiggins. The program will be held in the Oakland Public Library on Wednesday, April 25, beginning at 3 p.m. Erin’s newest book is Voyage’s End. Erin is now writing for Chicken Soup. Everyone is invited to join us as Erin discusses these books. Refreshments will be served.

Annual Spring Yard Sale Planned At Pine Valley School

The annual Spring Yard Sale at Pine Valley School will be held Saturday, May 5th. Donations will be appreciated and they will be accepted until April 24. If you have any questions concerning this please all Judea at 714-0025.

New Band Will Perform At VFW’s Saturday Night Dance

 The regular Saturday night dance on April 21 begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. This week’s dance will feature a great new band, Dirt Road. There is a $10 cover charge. The doors open at 6. The dance will be held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to attend.

School Board Sets Meeting Date

The Water Valley School District Board of Trustees have scheduled a board meeting on Monday, April 23rd in the Central Office at 6:30. The public is invited to attend.

Extension Service Hosts Series On Vegetable Gardening 

The Yalobusha County Extension Service will host a series on vegetable gardening at the multi-purpose building in Coffeeville on April 23rd, May 3rd, and May 11th.  The classes will be held at 6 p.m. and will cover topics of site selection, variety selection, soil testing, best management practices, chemical use, vegetable processing and much more.  If you would like to attend please contact the Extension office at 662-675-2730 to reserve your seat.

Martin Is Speaker At Historical Society Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker is Daniel Martin, and his topic is the Branch of Hope ministry. Refreshments are served afterwards, and visitors are welcome.
